My Review:
I have read most of the novels by Devika Fernando and this one, by far is the best. The book is a double delight for the readers, as it takes one to an emotional rollercoaster as well as gives a picturesque window to Sri Lanka’s heritage and sights.

Sepalika (love the name) the gorgeous, smart tour guide gives us a glimpse of traditional plus modern Sri Lanka, and Daniel is an absolutely hot Irish hunk, whom I fell for, along with Sepalika J The story takes us to a romantic charming journey through the sandy beaches, temples, forts in Sri Lanka and the conflicting strong attraction of our heroine to Daniel. She tries to resist initially but couldn’t help herself when Daniel also seeks her company. The karaoke scene was the perfect setting to bring them together, making them realize the deep bond of love is the strongest of all. But reality intervenes and fate takes over Sepalika’s life creating a rift between the two protagonists. What happens next? Read Saved In Sri Lanka :-)
I have always been a fan of Devika’s writing and her translation of pictures in words. It’s like one is watching a scenic film. Both the character's are well etched. Mahesh is perfect in his foil of money-minded villain.
Devika gives us detailed insights on the history, politics and religion in Sri Lanka along with the heady dose of Sepalika’s emotional conflict. She has done a commendable job of balancing the tour of Sri Lanka and romance between Sepalika and Daniel. Both the threads get equal attention, and the plot has right mixture of pace and progress of the story.

A highly recommended romance!
Almost as soon as Devika Fernando could write, she imagined stories and poems. After finishing her education in Germany and returning to her roots in Sri Lanka, she got a chance to turn her passion into her profession. Having lived in Germany and in Sri Lanka with her husband has made her experience the best (and the worst) of two totally different worlds – something that influences her writing. Her trademark are sweet, yet deeply emotional romance stories where the characters actually fall in love instead of merely falling in lust. She draws inspiration from everyone and everything in life. Besides being a romance novel author, she works as a self-employed German web content writer, as a translator, and as a faithful servant to all the cats, dogs, fish and birds in her home. What she loves most about being an author is the chance to create new worlds and send her protagonists on a journey full of ups and downs that will leave them changed. When she’s not writing, she’s reading or thinking about writing.
